On Top® Begonias were especially bred with the professional grower in mind. Quicker to bloom than our large-flowered varieties, they are extremely well branched and floriferous.
All Tuberous Begonias have a front and back to the mature plant. The majority of the blooms point the same way as the tips of the first, and subsequent majority of, leaves. This fact is good to keep in mind when orienting plants in a basket to insure a full symmetrical display. This fact is, however, diminished by the extreme branching habit of our On Top® Begonias. One single plug is enough to fill most 6-inch pots; whereas, it is often necessary to put at least two of our competitors plugs into that same size pot.
We have selected several of our large-flowered varieties that are also suitable for a pot market. These types are ideal for the grower-retailer and, with care, suitable for a grower-shipper as well. Among these new AmeriHybrid® Begonia introductions is our "Reverse Picotee" Lace Begonias, having solid-colored petals delicately edged in a lace of white. All hanging basket begonias are ideal in a pot but must be shipped early with color. All our exhibition grade AmeriHybrid® Begonias can bring good returns to the grower-retailer.
